Hydrogen Transfer Days 2025

With the 2025 Hydrogen Transfer Days, we organized three intensive days of events focused on the latest developments, technologies, and manufacturing processes for hydrogen systems. Representatives from research and industry used the platform for professional exchange, practical insights, and joint discussion of future solutions.

The event was opened by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Welf-Guntram Drossel, Executive Director of the Fraunhofer IWU. Participants then had the opportunity to take a closer look at our technologies during guided tours of our test fields.

Over the following days, the focus was on technical presentations covering key components of modern hydrogen systems. Topics included the potential of hydrogen and current work from the H2GO project and the flagship hydrogen project H2Giga-FRHY. The presentations were complemented by practical insights into machinery, processes, and production solutions across the entire value chain.

The final day focused, among other things, on assembly technologies for stacks, application examples based on mobility technologies and our microgrids, concepts of the circular economy, as well as issues related to quality assurance, virtual reference architectures, and the training of skilled workers.

The 2025 Hydrogen Transfer Days clearly demonstrated how important close collaboration between research and industry is for the successful ramp-up of hydrogen technologies. Fraunhofer IWU would like to thank all participants for the in-depth discussions and the valuable insights they provided for the further development of hydrogen system production.
