German Finals

Excitement, passion, and adrenaline created an electric atmosphere at the Hydrogen Grand Prix German Finals. See for yourself!

This is the Hydrogen Grand Prix

1. Design

Students interested in science and their teachers use an “H2 Starter Kit” to build a race-ready, hydrogen-powered vehicle on a 1:10 scale. They receive support from past participants and tailored coaching from our partner Horizon Educational. In the process, the teams gain in-depth knowledge of fuel cell technology and hydrogen.

2. Build

Armed with plenty of team spirit, creativity, ingenuity, and critical thinking, the teams will take their prototypes to the racetrack in the spring of 2025 for a final rehearsal. The teams will use the insights gained here about the car’s performance in the weeks leading up to the Hydrogen Grand Prix Germany final to further optimize their vehicles.

3. Race

On May 30, the big day will finally arrive: Teams from all participating schools will compete with their vehicles at the 4. National Hydrogen Grand Prix in Chemnitz, aiming to impress the expert jury with their design and performance. The teams will compete against each other in various categories.

The goal is to complete as many laps as possible within a set time using a limited amount of hydrogen. This requires quick reactions whenever the hydrogen tank runs empty or the cars collide with each other.

4. Win

The winners will earn a spot in the Hydrogen Grand Prix World Finals! Adrenaline and goosebumps are guaranteed! Here, the world’s best will compete for the title.
